Count 'em up!

I was talking to Karin & John last night, friends of ours who are planning a road trip across the U.S. this summer. They are trying to eventually visit all 50 states, and the conversation made me think - how many states have I been to? I think it's 21...

Here's the list, in order of visit (I think):
California
Arizona
Washington
Nevada
North Carolina
Virginia
New York
Maryland
Missouri
Illinois
Wisconsin
Iowa
Indiana
Michigan
Florida
Alaska
Minnesota
Ohio
West Virginia
Tennessee
Kentucky
(Note: Jimmy & I only count states as having been visited if we purchase something in that state; and airports don't count unless you leave them. So I can't count Colorado or Texas, despite having changed planes in both states a billion times; and I can't count Pennsylvania, because I've only been through without stopping.)

How many states have you visited?

You can too count Pennsylvania- we stopped at that truck stop to eat lunch, after which you took over driving until the pizza you had made you sick. Oh, the memories... ;)

I think I've been to 23, not counting Georgia (b/c we didn't stop) and Massachusetts (b/c I didn't leave the airport)

I *think* I'm at 33. I've driven through the Texas panhandle a couple of times, and I'm pretty sure I've at least eaten a meal there, but I haven't seen most of the state. Montana I probably shouldn't count since I haven't actually purchased anything there, but I hiked into it (up a mountain, no less) and later drove through a tiny sliver of it, where buffalo charged at our car, so even though I've only seen .00000001% of the state, I want to count it. :) Anyway, 33 is about right. I've only lived in three, though.
